Floors That Work as Hard as You Do
Epoxy flooring in DeLeon Springs tends to be a working floor. This is an unincorporated community along US 17 north of DeLand, with De Leon Springs State Park at its edge. Garages and shop slabs here handle mud from the yard, tools, mowers, trailers and the odd engine project. Bare concrete soaks up all of it. A thick, bonded coating keeps oil and dirt on the surface and makes the space easier to clean and nicer to work in.
Built for families
The 2000 census, the latest detailed figures Wikipedia lists for the community, found an average household size of 3.24 and 31.5% of residents under 18. Bigger households mean more bikes, sports gear and muddy shoes coming through the garage. A flake floor hides everyday dirt between cleanings, and it holds up to kids' bikes being dropped on it. The population was 2,619 in 2020, close to the 2,614 counted in 2010.
Shop and outbuilding floors
If you use a workshop or an outbuilding, the slab takes more abuse than a garage that only parks a car. We size the system to the work:
- Commercial and shop floor epoxy: thicker 100% solids coats that resist impact, hot fluids and rolling jacks.
- Chemical-resistant topcoats: for areas with fuel, brake fluid, solvents or fertilizer.
- Extra grit: where oil and water mix on the floor.
- Color-coded lines: to mark walkways or work zones in a larger building.
We will tell you if a building has drainage or structural problems that should be fixed before a floor goes in.
A spring with a long history
De Leon Springs State Park covers 625 acres and connects to Lake Woodruff National Wildlife Refuge. The spring flows at about 20 million gallons a day and stays near 72 degrees all year. Colonel Orlando Rees built what is described as the only water-powered sugar mill in Florida here, and the Old Spanish Sugar Mill restaurant has run in the mill building since 1961. The community also holds the Strawn Historic Citrus Packing House District. The area was called Spring Garden until it was renamed in the late 1800s to draw tourists.
Garages that double as mudrooms
In many homes here the garage is the main way in. Kids, dogs and adults come through it after time outdoors, often with wet, sandy or muddy shoes. A flake floor in a mid-tone blend hides that dirt between cleanings. It also holds up to a hose-down, which is the fastest way to clean a busy garage after a rainy week. We seal the floor edges so water does not run under the walls.
What a DeLeon Springs job looks like
- We walk every slab you want coated and agree on what moves out.
- We test for moisture and check cracks, old paint and oil-soaked areas.
- Oil-saturated spots are degreased and ground, since oil blocks the bond.
- Cracks and broken edges are filled and ground flush.
- Base coat, flake or color, and a topcoat go down in order.
- You get written return-to-use times for foot traffic, vehicles and heavy equipment.
Humidity and the schedule
Summer afternoons bring storms and heavy air. We check slab temperature, humidity and dew point before each coat. For an outbuilding without climate control, we may plan an early start so the coating sets before the afternoon rain.

DeLeon Springs Questions
Can you coat a workshop floor that has years of oil in it?
Usually. We degrease the worst spots and grind the surface to remove as much contamination as we can. Some deeply soaked areas need extra cleaning or a special primer. We will tell you on site if any spot is too saturated to hold a coating.
Will a coating hold up to a floor jack and a tractor?
A thicker shop system handles rolling jacks and normal vehicle traffic well. Steel tracks, sharp stands and dragged implements can still gouge any coating. Use pads under jack stands and avoid dragging equipment.
Do you work outside town limits?
Yes. DeLeon Springs is unincorporated, and we work throughout this part of Volusia County.
